Competition-Introduction Evaluation Process

To become Certified in the Competition-Introduction context, all coaches need to be evaluated by a qualified Coach Evaluator. The process to complete a Competition-Introduction Evaluation through Field Hockey Alberta is as follows:

1) Application

In order to be evaluated in the Competition-Introduction stream, all coaches must apply to Field Hockey Alberta. Applicants will be notified of their status by email.

Note: All coaches applying to be evaluated as a Competition-Introduction Coach must have completed the Safe Sport requirements:

  • NCCP Make Ethical Decisions Course and Online Evaluation,
  • NCCP Making Headway,
  • CAC Safe Sport Training.

2) Payment

Once approved, the coach will be asked to make a payment of $180 to FHA for the evaluation.

Payment can be made through our RAMP registration system http://FieldHockeyAB.rampregistrations.com. The registration will be made available on the site once application approval has taken place. Note for the $180, the coach gets one re submission of the portfolio and one attempt on pitch.

3) Assignment of Coach Evaluator & Sharing of Portfolio Documents

Once payment is received, the coach will be connected with their Coach Evaluator via email.

Arrangements will be made to allow for sharing of the completed Portfolio documents with the Coach Evaluator. Please ensure that the documents are named in such a way as it is clear and easy to find for the coach evaluator.

4) Scheduling On-Site Evaluation

Once all the portfolio documents have been completed and shared with the Coach Evaluator, the coach and evaluator will schedule a pre-brief meeting as well as the On-Site Evaluation.

5) Action Plan and Next Steps

After the coach has debriefed with their evaluator and completed the Action Plan, the Coach Evaluator will submit all evaluation documents to Field Hockey BC. Coaches that are recommended for Certification will have their evaluation recorded in the Locker and their transcript should be updated within 2 weeks of their completed evaluation
