Edmonton Junior Program - Spring 2011

2010 Edmonton Spring & Summer Field Hockey Programs

Field Location: Foote Field - University of Alberta - 11601-68th Ave
(No Parking Fee Required)

All programs require an annual Field Hockey Alberta membership to be paid ($35.00) – This membership is good from September 1st until August 31st each year.

What does my child need to participate?

1.Soccer Shin Pads & a mouth guard (for scrimmages/games)
2.A parent/ guardian for each session for U6, U8, U10 programs, or an adult responsible for that child.

What does my child get out of the program and fee?

1.Each participant will receive a jersey, socks, & mouth guard to keep
2.Each session will be ran by qualified field hockey coaches and instructors
3.Each session will consist of drills and skills through fun exciting games
4.Each session will include the CS4L- Canada Sport For Life principles for this age group. (Promoting physical literacy skills- (Agility, Balance, Coordination, Run, Jump, Throw) Visit: http://www.canadiansportforlife.ca

5.Scrimmages/Games will consist of a 5vs5 format with a goalie or 4vs4 without a goalie for U6, U8, U10 programs.  7vs7 format with a goalie for U12 & U14 programs.
6.Games will be 20 minute halves with 5 minute half time.
7.All sticks, balls and equipment necessary for the program will be provided to use during each session.

Try-It-Free Day Come out and join the Try-It-Free day at the Jewish Community Centre (7200 - 156 Street) on April 2nd, from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm. Registration is required for this event. The following times are when each age group will be held

9:30 - 10:30 am — U6 & U8 (5, 6, 7 & 8 Year Olds)
10:30 - 11:30 am — U10 (9 & 10 Year Olds)
11:30 am - 12:30 pm — U12 & U14 (11, 12, 13 & 14 Year Olds)

U6 (5 & 6 years old) - $65.00 + FHA Membership $35 (if not paid in October) = $100.00 - 13 weeks total, Monday nights 6:30-8:00 pm.  April, May, June, July. Mixed Boys & Girls Start Date: April 18, 2011

U8 (7 & 8 years old) - $95.00 + FHA Membership $35 (if not paid in October) = $130.00 - 13 weeks, Monday nights 6:30-8:00 pm & 11 games Tuesdays or Wednesdays 6:15-7:00pm - April, May, June, July. Mixed Boys & Girls Start Date: April 18th, 2011

U10 (9 & 10 years old) - $110.00 + FHA Membership $35 (if not paid in October) = $145.00 - 13 weeks, Monday nights 6:30-8:00 pm & 11 games Tuesdays or Wednesdays 6:15-7:00pm - April, May, June, July. Mixed Boys & Girls. Start Date: April 18th, 2011

U12 (11& 12years old) & U14 (13 & 14 years old) - $120.00 + FHA Membership $35 (if not paid in October) = $155.00 - 13 weeks, Monday nights 6:30-8:00pm & 11 games Tuesdays or Wednesdays 7:15-8:00pm - April, May, June, July. Mixed Boys & Girls- Unless there are enough participants to make an all girls and all boys program. Start Date: April 18th, 2011

Praire Youth Games (U14) - $175.00 + FHA Membership $35 (if not paid in October or with any other program) - Prairie Youth Games practices will be Monday and Wednesday evenings from 8:00 - 9:00 pm at Foote Field. Occasional practices will also be held on the weekends in May and June. Start Date: April 18th, 2011

Upcoming Events
The FHC Senior National Championships will be held in Calgary at Hawkings Field, July 21st thru 26th, 2009. Come watch the top hockey players in Canada compete for the honor of Canadian National Champion.
